With over 200 speakers, 160 exhibiting companies and 2900 attendees from 56 countries, 2003 EWEC was the largest and most important international wind energy event ever held in Europe.

27th January 11h30 - 13h00 - Brussels, Belgium

On January 27th, EWEA will launch the First Report of the Wind Industry R&D Strategy at the International Press Centre, 155 Rue de la Loi, Brussels. The report stresses the importance of continuing EU support for wind industry R&D, and highlights key areas where R&D is required.

Following on the from the launch on the 27th, this latest in a series of successful workshops aims to prioritise and fine-tune the findings detailed in the first report. The first Special Topic Conference, jointly organised with 3E of Belgium, on offshore wind energy was held in Brussels on the 10 – 12 December 2001 to coincide with the Belgian presidency of the European Union. Olivier Deleuze, the Belgian Secretary of State for Energy and Sustainable Development, gave the keynote address.

The 2001 European Wind Energy Conference and Exhibition in Copenhagen was the sector's premier event. It was supported by the European Commission, the Danish Energy Agency, the European Wind Energy Association and the Danish Wind Turbine Manufacturers Assoc., and was jointly organised by WIP-Munich and EWEA-Brussels.
