OffshoreGrid
The OffshoreGrid project and workshop
The objective of the project is to provide policy recommendations for the process towards an offshore electricity grid in Northern Europe. OffshoreGrid will develop a scientific overview along with an appropriate regulatory framework that takes into account technical, economic and policy aspects.
The second Northern European Stakeholder Workshop was targeted towards European and national policy makers, transmission system operators, regulators, energy utilities, wind farm developers, energy agencies and other actors involved in offshore infrastructure development in Northern Europe. The workshop programme featured plenary and round-table sessions for a fruitful and open interaction.
The workshop provided participants with information on the following:
- General approach and objectives of the OffshoreGrid project
- First results of the preparatory work packages:
- Description of the status and future trends of European market integration
- Inventory of possible wind farm locations with installed capacity
- Expected interconnection schedule for the 2020 and 2030 scenarios
- Assumptions and preliminary results of the cost-benefit analysis of an optimised offshore grid configuration
