EWEA2011

EWEA 2011 workshops provided delegates, exhibitors and exhibition visitors with an opportunity to become involved in a number of EU-funded research projects.

Funded by a variety of mechanisms, including Intelligent Energy Europe, and the Sixth and Seventh Framework Programmes, the projects focus on key areas for the future development of wind energy:

• long-term programmes for funding research and development
• accommodating large amounts on wind energy in the electricity grid
• the design of very large wind turbines for both on- and offshore
• strategic planning for offshore wind deployment, in cooperation with other offshore renewables and maritime groups

In addition to providing updates on the latest developments, the events allowed attendees to provide their own input on a number of important issues in the sector’s future.
